Capacity and Utilization Review

(August 2010 – December 2011)

The review was intended to assist the SWCS Board of Directors with their strategic planning processes to define the overall direction for the agency and to allocate resources to those directions over a long-term period.  The review focused on the SWCS domestic violence shelter operating in the Swift Current area and included the following components:

• Assess Shelter utilization historically and compared to other Shelters of similar size;
• Investigate underlying social, personal demographic and operational factors which may be affecting utilization; and,
• Make recommendations related to these factors, specifically with regards to strategies to increase the utilization of current capacity or to maintain Shelter services but reduce capacity and investment to a more appropriate level.
