Starburst Program Evaluation

(January 1999 – December 2002)

Starburst works with young women to address what are considered to be ‘key building blocks to success’. The young women of Starburst are involved in positive peer experiences, form a positive relationship with a screened adult female mentor, receive relationship education, develop leadership skills and are exposed to unique life experiences. This 3-year evaluation includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches, which were selected in accordance with the program objectives. The evaluation uses both standardized quantitative instruments with proven reliability and validity and qualitative approaches which include focus groups with the youth and their parents.
