Evaluation of the Provincial Safe Visitation Initiative

(January 2008 – December 2009)

Enhancing availability and access to safe visitation was one of the key priorities identified through the consultative process at the Provincial Roundtable on Family Violence and Bullying in 2004.  The Roundtable recommendations and the provincial safe visitation model are now being implemented in five pilot sites throughout Alberta. Sites included Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge and Red Deer. The goal of the project was to implement Phase Three of the Provincial Safe Visitation Initiative, which included the development of an overall evaluation plan for the Provincial Safe Visitation Initiative, and an initial evaluation focusing on the process elements.

Joint Funding Review Initiative – Child and Youth Services

(August 2001 – September 2004)

The review was commissioned by three funding organizations: the United Way of Calgary and Area, the City of Calgary and Calgary RockyView Child and Family Services. The purpose of the Review was to produce a comprehensive picture of the existing and projected needs of and resources for Calgary children and youth; to delineate the roles played and support provided by participating funders; to provide options and associated action-based recommendations for an integrated funding framework; and to make recommendations toward improvement of service delivery to children and youth by focusing on increasing agency capacity, efficiency, and effectiveness and by enhancing agency and sector planning among both agencies and funders, individually and collectively.

Community Resource Centre Review

(November 2002 – April 2003)

Calgary Rocky View Child and Family Services (CRV) commissioned a review of Community Resource Centres (CRC).  This project included a service mapping of 9 CRCs, review of documentation, interviews with CRC and CRV representatives and focus groups with CRC Boards of Directors.  The project concluded in March of 2002 and delineated key challenges and successes experienced by CRCs as well as the recommendations with regards to supports and/or resources that CRCs require to continue delivering effective and efficient services and to support the Alberta Response Model.

Treatment Foster Care Review

(1997 – 1998)

The project was commissioned by Alberta Family and Social Services, Children & Family Program Services, Calgary Region. The goal of the project was to enhance the efficient and effective use of Treatment Foster Care resources and to make recommendations to enhance the service system for children. The review included 12 foster care agencies and, through a variety of methodological approaches, collected feedback from children, foster parents, child welfare workers and agency representatives. The report was used to implement changes to the service delivery system of Treatment Foster Care in the Calgary Region.

Probation Officer Training Evaluation Project

(1995)

Subsequent to the development and piloting of a model of intervention with male batterers, the Researcher was contracted to evaluate the implementation of the model. The researcher utilized a community consultation model in collecting feedback from trainees, trainers, chief probation officers, women’s shelter directors and other related stakeholders.
