Sonshine Community Services

Evaluation Framework

(September 2019 – Present)

Sonshine Community Services is a non-for-profit social service agency that exists to help women and children fleeing domestic violence transform their lives. Sonshine Centre works to create a community where women and children live safely in healthy families. It is now engaged in a process of developing an organizational evaluation framework to guide evaluation and data collection across the agency. The framework, when developed, will include guidance on data sources, data management and reporting processes. It will also include an overall program theory/logic model and principles to guide the planning, management and conduct of evaluations. The framework development process requires engagement of all agency staff in data gathering, interpretation and, ultimately, on-going service improvement.

Evaluation of Sonshine Children’s Centre

The Sonshine Children’s Centre is an innovative child care facility that integrates therapeutic programming and interventions with child development strategies designed to end the inter-generational cycle of family violence. The evaluation included a development of an evaluation framework, identification and development of data collection tools, use of a database to collect information, and meetings and interviews with program staff to review evaluation results. The project will conclude with a report providing recommendations for program development and implementation of a continuous quality assurance framework across the agency.
