Calgary John Howard Society
Developmental Evaluation Framework
(July 2009 – Present)
The Calgary John Howard Society is engaged in a multi-year agency-wide Developmental Evaluation Framework (DEF) process to align all programs and services with the outcomes, activities, and impact in our Theory of Change (ToC). The DEF will ensure that what CJHS measures in its programs is relevant to the broader organizational outcomes. The DEF will ensure all staff understand and apply the same approach and measures to evaluate and accurately share the CJHS story of helping individuals involved in the justice system. Irene is the lead project facilitator, planning and supporting its implementation.
Developmental Evaluation Framework
(September 2017 – October 2019)
The Youth Crime Prevention Project (YCPP) and Kisisskstaki Ikamotaan Youth Outreach provide support to junior and senior high youth and Indigenous youth who are at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system, to stay in school. Research stresses that the transition to adulthood is a critical time that is marked by the formation of relationships, building social capital, and making decisions that affect an individual’s future. A participatory and developmental evaluation is underway to support the needs of the Calgary John Howard Society and the requirements of the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, with components including developing Evaluation Framework and Tools, Social Return on Investment, Quarterly Staff Meetings and Updates, and Data Collection and Analysis.
